wow. completely fucked up and frightening. kevin smith is a force to be reckoned with.
That is a great movie. It still seems very current despite being released in the late 60s. I can see why Hollyweird doesn’t want Roman Polanski behind bars.
I wanted to scream at Mia Farrow’s character at times. How could she not see what was coming? Put the puzzle pieces together my dear. It reminded me ever so slightly of another movie I watched recently—A Woman is a Woman, released in the early 60s. The lead female character was adorable and endearing in some ways, but also obnoxiously melodramatic and senseless in others. Perhaps it was the 60s norm to portray women as flighty and petulant. Were women really like that? And if so, are they like that now? I wonder. What I really wonder is why anyone would be attracted to those qualities. I find it annoying, but that probably just means I’m exactly like these crazy ladies.
Back to Rosemary’s Baby.
I thought there was supposed to be some sort of disturbing rape scene. Granted I was momentarily distracted during that part of the movie (neighbors), but I didn’t see anything remotely disturbing. It looked more like semi cheesy horror film antics.
Minor criticism aside, it was an enjoyable film. The story line was imaginative and clever. It certainly held my attention. The characters were charming and well developed. By the end of the movie I felt like I had just finished reading a good mystery novel.
Final thought: I think I would have killed the baby.
The End.
The first few minutes of this documentary made me wonder if I’d be able to get through the entire 2 hours. My mind wandered as I watched a bunch of gamer geeks who looked like they just stepped out of the 80s talk about video games. Visually unappealing and major nerd speak. I thought the record holder looked a little creepy.
Then came Steve Wiebe.
He was a little more relatable. He looked like a normal dude; a family man who lost his job and decided to kill some time beating a record. And that he did.
Then the movie took a turn.
Without giving it all away, I am a champion of justice. I always root for the underdog and it pains me to see people get ahead by cheating or being unfair. I knew this movie was great when I actually started getting mad. That’s when you know you’re invested.
This is a classic story of good versus evil. Who wins? You’ve gotta watch to find out!
